Eid ul Adha 2026 — complete prep checklist.
A week-by-week Qurbani checklist for Eid 2026 in Pakistan. Start 4 weeks before Eid (early May) for smooth animal selection, qasai booking, and meat distribution.
4 weeks before Eid (early May 2026)
- Decide animal type — bakra, sheep, cow, or camel
- Confirm hissedars for cow/camel (7 shares)
- Set budget with 15% buffer for services
- Get Qurbani niyyah from every hissedar in writing (WhatsApp suffices)
- Start browsing BakDumGa / shortlisting mandi options
3 weeks before Eid (mid May 2026)
- Visit 2–3 shortlisted animals
- Negotiate and book
- Pay deposit or full amount
- Lock delivery window (typically 2–3 days before Eid)
- Book qasai — they fill up fast
2 weeks before Eid (mid-late May)
- Arrange animal holding location — home, family farm, or seller's farm till delivery
- Coordinate chara (fodder) — typically 1–2kg hay per bakra per day, 5–8kg for cow
- Stock Qurbani day supplies — large knife, ropes, tarpaulin, bleach for cleanup, plastic sheets for meat
- Identify recipients for one-third distribution (poor/needy)
1 week before Eid (22–27 May)
- Confirm qasai timing and fee
- Pre-agree meat split with hissedars (for cow/camel)
- Arrange transport for animal if staying at farm/mandi
- Notify neighbours (courtesy in urban settings)
- Confirm post-slaughter cleanup — disposal service or municipal pickup
Chaand Raat (27 May 2026)
- Confirm Eid moon sighting by Ruet-e-Hilal
- Final animal check — water, feed, shelter
- Confirm qasai ETA for Eid morning
- Prepare meat containers, ice, storage plan
Eid day (28 May 2026)
- Eid prayer
- After prayer — Qurbani slaughter (not before prayer on day one)
- Recite tasmiyah at moment of slaughter
- Collect skin separately — proceeds go to charity
- Qasai cuts and divides; you handle distribution
- Distribute one-third to poor/needy same day if possible
Day 2 & 3 (29–30 May)
- Continue distribution to relatives and friends
- Qurbani is still valid on these days if delayed
- Complete skin disposal / charity transfer
Common gotchas
- Qasai no-show — always have a backup number
- Animal escape — secure ropes, check tether
- Storage failure — have ice/freezer ready for 200kg+ if cow
- Unbilled extras — chara, cleanup, transport add up. Budget 15%
Sawalat / Questions.
How early should I book my Qurbani animal?
Ideally 3–4 weeks before Eid. This gives time for hissedar coordination, animal selection, and qasai booking. Last-week buying is possible but expensive and rushed.
When should I book a qasai?
At least 2 weeks before Eid. Qasai slots fill fast, especially for Eid morning. BakDumGa qasai booking opens alongside the marketplace.
What about chara and fodder?
Budget 1–2kg hay per bakra per day, 5–8kg per cow. Most urban buyers hold the animal only 1–3 days before Eid, so chara is a small expense.
What happens with the skin?
Skin proceeds must go to charity — you cannot sell or use it for personal benefit. Many organisations (Edhi, Saylani, local madaris) collect Qurbani skins on Eid day.
